This course will expose you to photography’s history in the city of light from 1826 to the present as inspiration to form your own contemporary photographic projects.

The class will view and discuss pioneers and contemporary practitioners of photography, their aesthetic influences and locations, photographic terminology, camera settings, exposure techniques and visual aesthetics. Visits to galleries and museums will be an integral part of this course as well as guest artist lectures. You will explore and work on the development of a personal aesthetic based on assignments, field trips, class critiques, guest artists and presentations of historical and contemporary works using Paris as a center point.
