We’ll meet in the beautiful city of Arles, France in Provence.  Many travelers begin or end their stay in France with a few days in Paris then take the fast train (TGV) to Provence. You may also fly directly to Southern France.  Nice, Aix-en-Provence and Marseille are also interesting destinations in Provence you may want to explore before or after our workshop. Yolande, our travel specialist, will aid you in all your travel plans when booking this workshop and can provide related ideas and itineraries.

DAY ONE:

• Meet in Arles, France (I can meet you on arrival at train station)
• Check into Hotel
• Group welcome dinner included

DAY TWO:

• Walking tour of Arles, France with our cameras for location scouting including Les Arenes and Cathedral St. Trophime.
• Lunch on our own
• Recontres d’Arles Festivities and tours led by Erika with the group
• Dinner on our own

DAY THREE:

• Excursion #1: 9am Departure and Full day excursion.
  Photograph and tour Montmajour Abbey, the perched village of Les Beaux and the picturesque town of St. Remy de Provence. Cool down in the Cathedral des Images – a drilled quarry on which large images are projected on quarry walls.
• Lunch and dinner on our own on our excursion
• Optional Evening Recontres d’Arles Festivities

DAY FOUR:

• Enjoy a free day in Arles to explore and partake at the Rencontres Photography Festival (special tours tba)
• Photograph Arles Farmers Market
• Lunch and dinner on our own
• Small critique groups of your photographs
• Optional Evening Recontres d’Arles Festivities

DAY FIVE: Thursday 7/7/2011

• Excursion #2: Half day excursion to the Camargues. Photograph the Sunflowers of Provence, Salt production at Salin de Giraud, Flamingos and wilderness in the Camargues. Early departure and return by 1pm.
• Lunch and dinner on our own
• Small critique groups of your photographs
• Optional Evening Recontres d’Arles Festivities

DAY SIX:

• Excursion #3: Half day excursion to Roussillon village and Lavendar fields, Luberon, Provence. Return by 1pm.
• Recontres d’Arles Festivities with the group
• Lunch on our own
• Goodbye Group dinner included

DAY SEVEN:

• Enjoy the morning market along the Boulevard des Lices and free time to explore.
• Afternoon critique group
• On your own: Recontres d’Arles Festivities
• Farewell dinner

LAST DAY :

• After breakfast – our tour ends.

Additional photographic stop recommendations on your own enroute to or from Paris:

• Visit the Maison de Nicéphore Niepce Saint-Loup de Varennes as well as the Musée Nicéphore Niepce in Chalon-sur-Saône.
• Explore the charming village of Chalon-sur-Saône with your camera
• Travel by train and stop in Avignon, France
• Tour and photograph the beautiful fortified city of Avignon, France including the medieval Pope’s Palace and St. Benezet Bridge
